Biography
Born in Minnesota, Robert E. Thomson grew up in California where he practiced law for many years. He moved to Arizona in 1994. (However, he visited Phoenix on a regular basis with his family since the early 50’s as his father had clients there.)
He received his JD from the University of California Law School at Berkeley in 1967 and became a member of the California Bar the following year. Admitted to legal practice in both Arizona and California, he is a member of Probate and Trust Law Section of the Arizona State Bar, a member of the Estate, Trust and Probate Section of the Maricopa County Bar Association and a member of the Estates and Trusts Section of the California Lawyers Association.
Former Chair and CEO of a New York Stock Exchange listed company's subsidiary, Thomson then headed a 50-lawyer office in Los Angeles for a 700-lawyer national law firm. He also served for several years as the Chief Deputy City Attorney of Los Angeles.
Current activities include serving as a publicly elected Director of the Fountain Hills Sanitary District, and serving as a volunteer attorney for the Fountain Hills Senior Services Center. Married to wife Diane for more than 40 years, Thomson lives in Fountain Hills with Diane and their “too numerous to mention” cats.
